Pelikan pens are part of most pen users’ collection. They are fantastic functional everyday writing instruments. From their Pelikano Jr. to their Special and Limited Editions, Pelikan pens are made with precision German engineering and detail that you would expect. Speaking of German pens, I feel like Pelikan writing instruments have more color, flair, and style than that of its mountain-named competition. Beginning in 1993, Pelikan has created many Special Editions and Limited Editions over the years. I’m really glad to see that Pelikan just released a book to celebrate these collections. The new Pelikan Collector’s Book Limited & Special Editions 1993-2020 allows you to appreciate how creative their pens are.
First of all, this book: Pelikan Collector’s Book Limited & Special Editions 1993-2020 is not just for collectors. It’s also for newcomers to enjoy the rich history of Pelikan’s more special writing instruments. There have been hundreds of new pen collections launched over the years. Not only are there beautifully photographed pictures of these pens, but also plenty of fascinating information about them.
Secondly, you can see in the following pictures some of my own Pelikan Special and Limited Edition writing instruments. They are examples of what these look like in real life. However, these pictures pale in comparison to what you find in 280 pages of Pelikan’s documentation.
Notably, this book is divided into three chapters. The first gives more of a history of the Pelikan brand and its writing instruments. The second depicts Special and Limited Editions in chronological order and then sorted by series and theme. Last, the final chapter talks about practical information regarding inks, nibs, service and repair, and more. Also, it’s important to mention that this book is written in both German and English.
