Usually a tribute is done after a person/place/event passes to commemorate it/them. In this case, we are still in the middle of a pandemic. Lesson learned – we shouldn’t wait to honor those that deserve it. Conklin is doing exactly that with the new Conklin All American Courage pens. This limited edition serves to honor all who are working the front lines. I love that this list goes includes (but isn’t limited to) people that work at the EMS, police, firefighters, and National Guard. It goes on to also include other professions on the front line such as truck drivers, grocery store employees, and so many more unnamed heroes.
Throughout COVID-19, people band together to help each other survive. I can’t imagine what it’s like to work in the front lines like so many do. People go to work not knowing if they’ll contract this deadly disease as they make sure the public receives medical care, stays stocked with groceries, makes sure shipments go smooth and that we still get mail/packages. These past several months show us all a very different way of living and of valuing life.
That’s why the very first thing I’m pointing out about the Conklin All American Courage pens is how a portion of its sales goes to organizations who help feed families in need. These are charities that are vital now more than ever during these uncertain times.
The Conklin All American is a larger pen overall. And the Courage pens come as both fountain pens and ballpoint pens in three different color options. We are happy to offer all modes and colors for your enjoyment. Your color choices are Red, White, and Graphite. I like the beautiful resin swirls in each, though the White one is my favorite.
The cap ring is meaningful, as it’s engraved with a color-filled heartbeat. The clip features the famous rod of Asclepius. This symbol of the Hippocratic Oath is plated in either rose gold, gunmetal, or chrome, matching the color of the cap ring.
Like the other All American fountain pens, this also uses a cartridge/converter filling system. The JoWo nib is a great writer, and we offer all nib options: extra fine, fine, medium, broad, stub, and Omniflex. The ballpoint still uses the Monteverde Parker Style refills that we enjoy so much. As usual, the Super Broad is our (Bert’s and mine) favorite!
I like how the Conklin All American Courage pens come with a commemorative lapel pin also in the shape of the rod of Asclepius. This series is special to me since I have so many friends and family working the front lines this whole time. I can’t wait to get my set and show my support!
