Wow, folks! Just in time for Mother’s Day this upcoming Sunday, is the perfect pen set. I truly enjoy the Monteverde Ritma pen collection, as you may recall from my blog review here. Their new special edition Monteverde Ritma Olive Pen Set is a culmination of all things Ritma. What I mean by this is the set includes a standard size fountain pen, rollerball, ballpoint, and a pocket size fountain pen. Of course, it’s even better than the other versions because this is a beautiful olive green. Since this is Monteverde’s first special edition with plans for a new color set once per year, I look forward to seeing what they come up with next.
First of all, this Monteverde Ritma Olive Pen set is the epitome of customization. Importantly, let’s talk about how there’s two fountain pens in this set. Notably, they both come with a strong magnetic cap. The standard size fountain pen uses an international size cartridge/converter system. Moreover, the smaller fountain pen uses an international size cartridge or slide converter.
Normally when I review a fountain pen, I like to recommend an ink to pair it with. However, Monteverde made this an easy choice by including a 30mL bottle of Monteverde Olivine ink in the set. Both fountain pens will come with the same high-quality JoWo nib size you choose, whether it’s the extra fine, fine, medium, broad, stub, and Omniflex. The smaller fountain pen is a pocket size, making it easily portable in the pocket, purse, etc. Yet there’s an additional feature where you can unscrew the top of the cap and replace it with the enclosed lanyard attachment to make it a neck-pen.
As you may or may not be familiar with the Ritma, this pen line is based on minimalism with a streamlined design. It’s made from machining a mixture of steel and aluminum. This makes the Ritma sturdy, durable, and well-balanced. It looks great and feels comfortable in the hand. It’s treated with a matte finish, which compliments the polished gunmetal trim nicely.
The rollerball is also fitted with the strong magnetic cap for easy use. I like how it refills with Schmidt 888 or 5888 rollerball refills. Last but not least, the ballpoint uses a smooth twist-action retraction. However, unlike most ballpoint mechanisms, this one is equipped around the grip section at the bottom of the pen. As with the other Ritma ballpoints, this also uses Monteverde Parker Style ballpoint or gel refills.
