Have you thought about what criteria you look for in your next pen? Is it reliability you look for? How about aesthetics? Are you focused on a certain mode of writing (aka fountain pen vs rollerball or ballpoint)? I feel like Pelikan pens are fantastic everyday writers that check those boxes for many pen enthusiasts. Their overall designs and aesthetic are usually traditional. But when you look at their Special Editions, Pelikan expands their color range vastly. Lately, Pelikan’s 600 size has been their focus for introducing Special Editions. Therefore I’m happy to share the new Pelikan Souveran 605 Green-White Special Edition pen collection with you.
First of all, the Pelikan Souveran 605 Green-White Special Edition is available as both fountain pen and ballpoint. The fountain pen (designated as M605) has a high-quality piston filling mechanism. It also has a smooth 14k gold nib that writes beautifully right out of the box. Choose from: extra fine, fine, medium, or broad nib sizes. The nib is Rhodium plated to match the Palladium trim throughout the pen. Can you imagine filling this fountain pen with a vibrant green ink? I’d recommend Monteverde’s Yosemite Green to match.
Secondly, the color scheme on this pen is split. The fountain pen has a white cap with a white grip section and piston knob. As the main attraction is the lighter vibrant green stripes, those are enjoyed throughout most of the barrel. In contrast, the ballpoint has more of a 50/50 split. The ballpoint’s top half has the green stripes, while the lower half has the solid white color. Previously, Pelikan introduced the 600 model in a Pink-White, Violet-White, and Turquoise-White. Of course, as you may know from previous reviews, green is my favorite color, and therefore this is my favorite version of these four 600 Special Editions.
Finally, the ballpoint (designated as K605) employs a smooth twist-action retraction. This is great for one-handed use. It’s refillable with my favorite Monteverde Parker Style ballpoint or gel refills. I also like how well-balanced the ballpoint is. It’s slightly top-heavy, which allows the pen to rest back in your hand nicely.
