Sleek, stylish, charming, and full of flair are all words I use to describe the Visconti Van Gogh collection.  If you like your pens to have a ton of personality, these are perfect for you.  With Visconti’s special resin blend of colors, you’re sure to get a pen that’s as unique as you are.  Therefore the newest – the Visconti Van Gogh Flowering Plum Orchard Pen Collection – is just as special.  I love the deep, darker hues of red, green, and brown, which basically transports you to the orchard as you write.  Talk about inspirational.

First of all, “Flowering Plum Orchard” is the second oil painting selected by Visconti from Van Gogh’s Japanese series. Notably, the artist made this painting in 1887 from a Japanese print by Hiroshige, called Plum Garden in Kameido.  The Visconti Van Gogh Flowering Plum Orchard Pen Collection is a great tribute to this painting.

Secondly, the ancient plum tree that was the subject of the original print had the poetic nickname of “the sleeping dragon plum tree”. Van Gogh accurately reproduced the composition with more intense colors replacing the black and grey of Hiroshige’s tree trunk with red and blue tones. He also added the two orange borders with Japanese characters for a decorative and exotic effect.

Importantly, the collection has yellow gold plated metal fittings which add light to the red, green, and brown acrylic resin. The fountain pen kit comes with a new red ink called “Flowering Plum Orchard”. Above all, it is available in fine, medium, and broad widths. A converter is included with each fountain pen.

Finally, all three modes are accompanied by a bookmark showing a detail of the painting.  Refill the rollerball with Schmidt 888 or 5888 refills.  Both the fountain pen and the rollerball are fitted with a magnetic cap enclosure system.  Enjoy smooth twist-action retraction on the ballpoint.
